Whether it's summer reading programs or beach books, it seems that everyone is searching for the perfect summer tome. Summer reading is apparently different from reading for the rest of the year. For some of us. Those of us in education or those of us who are still students can enjoy lazy summers of endless reading. However, for most people endless days of summer reading are just myths perpetuated by publishing companies.This special double issue of Estella's Revenge focuses largely on summer reading and its accompanying myths. I do sometimes refer to something as a good 'beach read' or 'airplane read,' just because those are two circumstances where I (and most of the people I know) tend to be happy with something fun & not too deep. Something that can be set aside easily when your flight is called, and that you won't cry over (too much) if it gets seawater on it.
Mind you, I don't go to beaches or on airplanes much, so it mostly serves as a stereotype-based shorthand.
